The capital
Ottawa sits on the Ottawa River in Ontario and is the capital of Canada. It is home to Parliament, federal departments, universities and a large public policy community.
For environmental health, the city's significance is institutional as much as geographical. Federal agencies, research institutes and universities in and around Ottawa work on environmental exposure, public health and the evidence that informs national policy.
Why it appears in this archive
Ottawa holds a place in the ISEE conference story. The society's 2018 joint meeting with the International Society of Exposure Science was held in the city, a year before the Utrecht meeting. The Ottawa page in the original site carried a short note about the city's policy community, and this edition keeps that note as part of the record.
The page is not a programme page for the 2019 meeting. It is a city note, kept because the original site included it and because the conference series moves between host cities.
Archive note This page does not describe the 2018 programme in detail. It records the city's place in the series.
