The questions
The answers below follow the 2019 process. Where a date is given, it is a date from the published schedule, not an open deadline.
When were abstract notifications sent?
The published schedule put abstract and travel award notifications on 3 May 2019. Presentation times and dates were promised before the end of June 2019.
Could I change my abstract after submission?
Titles and abstracts were fixed after submission. A presenter could show updated results in the talk itself. To change who presented, the secretariat needed the new presenter's name and contact details by email.
What was the cancellation policy?
Cancellations had to reach the secretariat in writing. A withdrawal by 28 June 2019 lost a quarter of the fee. From 29 June 2019 the full fee stayed due and no refund was made. Names could change only within the same company. Changes after 28 June 2019 cost an extra 40 Euro. Refunds were paid after the meeting.
Who qualified for the student rate?
The student rate was for people registered on an accredited college or university course. Tuition could not be paid or reimbursed by an employer. A valid student card was uploaded at registration.
Who qualified for the early career rate?
The early career rate was for researchers who had completed their terminal degree within the previous five years.
Who qualified for the developing country rate?
The reduced rate used the World Bank income groups: low income, lower middle income and upper middle income. Delegates had to live, work and be employed in the qualifying country. Full rate registrations from residents with sufficient resources were also accepted.
How did ISEE members register?
ISEE members logged in with their membership account and then followed the conference registration link. The membership account and the conference account were separate. Anyone who had submitted an abstract was advised to use the same account for registration.
How did I get an invitation letter?
An invitation letter could be issued only after registration and payment. The confirmation email contained a link to the letter. If the link did not arrive, the delegate could write to the secretariat.
Which payment methods were accepted?
Credit cards, bank transfers and iDEAL for Dutch delegates were accepted. Checks and debit cards were not. Bank charges were the delegate's responsibility. Payment was due within fourteen days of registering and before the conference opened.
What if a special character in my name blocked payment?
Special characters could block a card payment. The advice was to remove them from the contact details, complete the payment, and then email the secretariat with the correct name so that the badge and records could be restored.
How did preconference workshop registration work?
Sunday workshops could be selected through the registration portal. Places were limited, and a waiting list opened when a room reached capacity. After 18 August 2019, remaining places could only be arranged on site.
How were travel awards paid?
Travel awards were paid after the meeting, not in advance. Awardees arranged their own travel. Payment followed confirmation that the awardee had attended and presented. Awards were personal and could not be transferred.
How was personal data handled?
Congress by design processed personal data for the 2019 conference on behalf of the organisers. Delegates could ask for access, correction, erasure, restricted processing, portability or objection through the secretariat.
